Vegetal, Régine Chopinot and Andy Goldsworthy
Vegetal, Régine Chopinot and Andy Goldsworthy
The opportunity to collaborate on a dance of the themes of the ideas of Vegetal have come at an appropriate time for me in my own work. I respond to dance much more easily than other forms of theatre. Dance is more sculptural. It deals with the stuff of the body, more abstract, the essence of movement. Régine has an irresistible dynamic energy. Watching the workshops and rehearsals has been an extraordinary experience. My work is a way of releasing an energy that is there. Régine releases movement. Appearing as if an external force is making the movement - somehow over-riding the mind of the dancer, it takes control. That is for me the essence of movement. Andy Goldsworthy.

The Masters: Glass Beads by Lark Books
David Hockney, Close and Far
"After looking at the painting for this exhibition in his studio, I asked if I could visit, one after the other, each of the places they represent. This was easy because the models are all there, not far from the studio. One of them (The Gate) is the view from the doorstep of the studio, but when you stand there and look out, you can only see a small part of what is on the painting. Hockney made a sign for me to look up, then down, then to the left and right, and suddenly all the painting is there. "Don't we want to see the world bigger?" he asked. Close and far. We want to be both close to and far from the world. We want everything. The world, images of the world, and the world once more." Jean Frémon.

Adams was given his first camera, a Kodak Box Brownie, in 1916, and made his first photographs during a family vacation in Yosemite National Park. Thus began a career and a lifetime devoted to making indelible images of America's wild places, its national parks, and its great mountain ranges.
