Toyota To Recall 264,000 Cars
Toyota Motor Corp said they will recall 264,00 vehicles worldwide due to potential cracks in the fuel pipes. While most of the recalled vehicles are in Japan, some 49,000 affected Lexus GS and IS models were sold abroad, mainly in the US, UK and Canada. In Japan, a total of 215,020 cars, including Crown, Mark X and several Lexus models, built between December 2003 and December 2005 will also be called back for the fix.

Swiss Exhibition Buys Stakes In The Basel And Miami Design Shows
MCH Swiss Exhibition (Basel) Ltd. is taking out a 50% holding in Design Miami Basel Ltd., which was set up in April 2007 to run Design Miami Basel. At the same time, it is taking out a 10 percent holding in Design Miami II, LLC – the company that organises Design Miami. The two internationally leading Design shows were created by their American event company in 2005 in Miami and 2006 in Basel. Since then, they have been held in parallel with Art Basel Miami Beach and Art Basel, both of which are organised by Swiss Exhibition.

Beijing Hotels To Provide Condoms In Every Room
The Chinese government have asked all hotel owners to provide condoms in every room by the end of 2008 to counter new cases of HIV/AIDS. However, hotels in the capital are not required to supply condoms to their guests for free. The decision on how much to charge was up to the hotels. So far only 133 hotels with 15,907 guest rooms have supplied condoms, according to official data.

KLM Continues Fleet Renewal Program
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines continues to pursue its policy of ongoing fleet renewal. Forming part of the current fleet renewal program two Boeing 777-300ERs, two Airbus A330-200s, and three Boeing 737-700s have been ordered for introduction in 2010 and 2011.

Asian Art Museum Announces $1 Million Grant From Bank Of America
The Asian Art Museum announced a $1 million gift from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to underwrite a major expansion of its education programs. The largest gift the Asian Art Museum has received outside of its capital campaign, the grant will support the launch of "The Bridge Program," a series of initiatives that will expand access to high-quality K-12 teaching materials about Asia.

First Mobile Phone to Support Napster Mobile
AT&T Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America have announced the future availability of the SLM by Samsung, Samsung's newest lightweight mobile phone with music and multimedia capabilities. The SLM by Samsung will be in stores beginning Nov. 23 and is the first of the company's music phones to feature Napster Mobile, a new service that enables AT&T's wireless customers to easily search a music catalog of 5 million songs, preview samples of each song and purchase and download songs to their SLM in less than a minute.

Guess Who Bought The Chloe Diamond?
The sale of Magnificent Jewels achieved an outstanding total of US$56,964,306 and was highlighted by the sale of the largest, purest white flawless brilliant-cut diamond ever to be offered at auction. The stone was acquired by Mr Georges Marciano, founder of Guess? Jeans, who paid US$16,189,769 for the stone - the second highest price for a diamond at auction and at US$191,980 a carat, the highest price per carat ever paid for a white diamond at auction. Mr Marciano has already exercised his right to name the diamond, which is now known as the "Chloe Diamond" after his 12-year-old daughter.

HSBC Establishes Branch Network In Peru
HSBC has received approval to establish a retail branch network in Peru to further expand its Latin America franchise. The Superintendent of Banking and Insurance in Peru has authorised an initial network of 10 retail branches in Lima. HSBC first entered the country in October of 2006 with the launch of its commercial banking division.
