Spike Lee Honored With Sixth Annual Chrysler Award
Spike Lee, one of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema, became the sixth recipient Wednesday of the Chrysler LLC Behind the Lens Award. Some 400 guests attended the award ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California in recognition of the outstanding achievements of the director of such groundbreaking films as "Jungle Fever," "Do The Right Thing" and "Malcolm X"; who helped launch the big-screen careers of Halle Berry, Samuel L. Jackson and John Turturro, as well as numerous other actors, filmmakers and craftspeople.

Kohl´s Donates US$1M To Milwaukee Art Museum
Kohl’s Department Stores announced a US$1 million gift to the Milwaukee Art Museum, a nationally recognized arts provider, that will support a new youth art education initiative in the community. This is the largest corporate gift to the Museum for education and outreach and will be used to launch new art education programs and develop a new outreach campaign.

Korean Air To Launch Nonstop Flights From LA to Brazil
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced that Korean Air will launch new, nonstop service on June 2nd from Los Angeles to Sao Paulo, Brazil's economic center. The service between the commercial hubs is a direct result of the Mayor's 2006 trade mission to Asia and a reflection of his intent to re-establish Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as one of the world's great international gateway airports.

GolTV Will Televise Matches Of German National Football Team
GolTV, the all soccer network, announced today that it has scored the exclusive US and Canada broadcast rights to all of the German National Team 2010 World Cup qualifying matches starting in September. Only GolTV will televise coverage of Germany vs. Russia, Wales, Lichtenstein, Azerbaijan and Finland to North American cable, satellite and telco subscribers. GolTV will also exclusively air six of Germany's friendly games, including live coverage of Germany's match against heated rival England.

Unquestionably the greatest Arab singer of the 20th century, Um Kulthum was known as The Shining Star of the Middle East, and her importance in the Arab countries was so great that she was received with the same ceremony as heads of state.
