Italian Art Squad Recover Stolen Renoir
The Carabinieri art squad recovered a painting by French master Pierre-Auguste Renoir, stolen in Milan in 1975. Three people were arrested in a nothern Italian town close to Austria on suspicion of trafficking in stolen artworks. The painting was found after the suspects contacted an Italian art critic for a valuation.

Museum Of Arts And Design Opens New Home At Columbus Circle
The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) opens the doors to its new home at Columbus Circle, designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture, on September 27. With triple the space of its previous facility, the 54,000-square-foot building allows MAD to dedicate galleries to its growing permanent collection for the first time in its history, and distinguishes the institution as the only New York museum with open studio programs that allow visitors to watch the creative process within programming spaces.

Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Names New Director Richard Armstrong
The Board of Trustees of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation unanimously confirmed the appointment of Richard Armstrong, effective November 4, to the position of Director, Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Mr. Armstrong, 59, has been the Henry J. Heinz II Director of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh since 1996 and announced his resignation in June of this year. His appointment comes after an extensive international search following the February 2008 resignation of Thomas Krens as Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.

Warhol Museum Has Appointed Eric C. Shiner As The Milton Fine Curator
The Andy Warhol Museum has appointed Eric C. Shiner as the Milton Fine Curator of Art. Shiner, a New Castle, PA native and former curatorial assistant intern at The Warhol, most recently served as an adjunct professor of East Asian Contemporary Art at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Stony Brook University and Pace University. Shiner assumes his duties at The Warhol on October 1.

Thomas P. Campbell Named Next Director Of The Metropolitan Museum Of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that Thomas P. Campbell – an accomplished curator with a specialty in European tapestry who has worked at the Museum since 1995 – has been elected its next Director and CEO, succeeding Philippe de Montebello, who announced in January his intention to retire from the Metropolitan Museum at the end of this year. Mr. Campbell, who organized the groundbreaking and widely acclaimed exhibitions Tapestry in the Renaissance: Art and Magnificence (2002) and Tapestry in the Baroque: Threads of Splendor (2007), is currently Curator in the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts as well as Supervising Curator of the Museum's Antonio Ratti Textile Center.

Ann Temkin Appointed Chief Curator Of MoMA
Ann Temkin has been appointed The Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art, it was announced by MoMA Director Glenn D. Lowry. In this role, Ms. Temkin will guide all aspects of the department, including its installations, acquisitions, exhibitions, and loan programs.
