Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation To Host Benefit Dinner At Guggenheim Museum On June 17, 2009
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation will host a benefit dinner at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 7:00PM – 10:00PM to honor Wright’s revolutionary design of the museum. Prolific 60 Minutes anchor Mike Wallace will chair the evening’s celebrations along with co-chairs Fred P. Stratton, Jr. and Howard J. Weiner, M.D. The event will include a special tribute to those who have preserved Frank Lloyd’s Wright’s guiding principles, passionate spirit and innovative vision. The benefit dinner will also coincide with the "Frank Lloyd Wright: From Within Outward" exhibition on view at the Guggenheim from May 15, 2009 to August 23, 2009.

London-based Polish artist Goshka Macuga is widely acclaimed for her sculptural installations of artefacts and photographs, derived from art history, politics and anthropology. The artist focuses on a key moment in the history of the Whitechapel Gallery: the presentation of Picasso’s "Guernica" in 1939.

Toledo Museum Of Art Announces Strategic Restructuring
The Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) announced a strategic restructuring plan that includes a 15 percent reduction in personnel and operational cost savings. The plan will trim a combined $1 million from the organization’s fiscal year 2009-2010 budget. Admission to the TMA will continue to be free and the hours of operation will remain the same.

IMA Launches Searchable Database Of Deaccessioned Artworks
The Indianapolis Museum of Art announced that it has launched a searchable database of recently deaccessioned artworks on its website. The database includes information on works the museum has identified for sale and their valuations. The database includes works of art identified since late 2007, when the museum began a comprehensive review of its collection. This groundbreaking program is another step in the IMA’s ongoing commitment to public access, openness and operational transparency.

BMW Art Cars Installation To Open At NYC Grand Central
A public art installation will open at New York’s Grand Central Terminal on March 25, 2009, featuring two distinct sections and made possible by BMW. One is a collection of four iconic BMW Art Cars designed by Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg. The second is a project by contemporary artist Robin Rhode, who used the all-new 2009 BMW Z4 Roadster mounted with special paint dispensers behind its wheels to create a football-field size painting, a 30’ x 40’ section of which will be shown.

TMA Named Sole Beneficiary of $3.2M Charitable Foundation
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Tweed Museum of Art is the sole beneficiary of the $3.2 million Marguerite L. Gilmore Charitable Foundation—a bequest from the estate of Duluth resident and retired teacher, the late Marguerite Louise Gilmore. The announcement was made today by UMD Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin and Stephen Vaillant, of Wells Fargo Private Client Services in Duluth, who will be administering the Gilmore Foundation bequest.
