Art Basel Miami Beach: America’s Favorite Art Show
The sixth edition of Art Basel Miami Beach takes place in Miami Beach, Florida (USA), from December 6 through 9, 2007. On the eve of the opening, invited guests from around the world will attend the glamorous Vernissage. Over 40,000 art lovers are expected to visit the international art show. 200 carefully selected galleries from 30 countries will be showcasing all forms of artistic expression (paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photography, editions, performances, and videos). Prices start at a few hundred dollars for multiples and works by young artists, and soar into the millions for museum-quality masterpieces.

De Niro Sues Salander-O´Reilly Galleries
Robert de Niro is suing Salander-O´Reilly Galleries after it sold his late father´s paintings without permission to help pay off a US$5 million debt. De Niro´s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, claims twelve paintings were given to the Benucci S.r.l. by Salander-O'Reilly Galleries in New York as part of an agreement.

Christie’s will present its most valuable Latin American Sale, expected to realize in excess of $22 million, on November 19 and 20 in New York. Leading the November 19 evening sale is Rufino Tamayo’s important masterpiece, "Trovador", which reflects his signature style of semiabstracted forms and mastery of color (estimate: $2,000,000-3,000,000), and a very rare appearance on the market of a work by Remedios Varo, "Exploración de las fuentes del río Orinoco" (estimate: $400,000-600,000). With over 300 lots, the two day auction offers works by the most important Latin American artists such as Fernando Botero, Joaquín Torres García, Diego Rivera, Matta, Wifredo Lam, and Claudio Bravo.

American Airlines One-of-a-Kind Mural
Visitors to Bryant Park on Monday morning will have the chance to become artists for a day, as they help put the finishing touches on a three-dimensional canvas mural derived from a new painting by renowned painter Charles Fazzino. The artwork is called "A Legacy of Service to New York," a colorful view of Manhattan Island landmarks looking from the Battery up to the Bronx, which celebrates American Airlines 80 years of service to the Greater New York community.

Trafalgar Square Sculpture Unveiled
Model for a Hotel 2007, which has been created by the leading German artist Thomas Schütte for the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, was unveiled yesterday by the Mayor of London. The glass sculpture is an architectural model of a twenty-one storey building, constructed in specially engineered red, yellow and blue glass and weighing over 8 tonnes.

Ullens Art Center Opens In China
The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA), founded by the Ullens family from Belgium, opened on Nov. 5, with an inaugural exhibition exploring the 1980. The exhibition, called "'85 New Wave: The Birth of Chinese Contemporary Art", is the first comprehensive display of Chinese contemporary art work largely from 1985 to 1990, which was "a revolutionary period in art history", according to the UCCA Artistic Director Fei Dawei.
