Charity Gives Falmouth Gallery Print Collection Starring Marilyn Monroe
Falmouth Art Gallery has been given an exceptional collection of 99 prints created by the master printmaker, Hugh Stoneman which includes a sultry, behind-the-scenes image of Marilyn Monroe taken from her last completed feature film. The gift has been made by The Art Fund, the UK's leading independent art charity, which bought the collection for £30,000, and means the Gallery now boasts one of the most important print collections outside of London.

Missing Van Dyck Portrait To Go On Show At Tate Britain
Sir Anthony van Dyck's portrait of Katherine, Lady Stanhope, later Countess of Chesterfield c. 1635-6 will go on public display for the first time in over a century in Tate Britain's major spring exhibition, Van Dyck and Britain, opening on 18 February 2009. The painting was thought to be missing until it re-emerged at auction in New York in 2006. It will go on loan to Tate Britain from a private collection.

Crocker Receives $225,000 Grant Support From GenCorp Foundation
The Crocker Art Museum has received $225,000 in continued grant support from the GenCorp Foundation to fund the Museum’s school programs and teacher services. The grant is payable over four years and will enable the Museum to continue its programs and services available to students and teachers both onsite and off, which began with the Foundation’s initial funding granted in 2005.

Art Basel Miami Beach: The Winter Rendez-Vous Of The International Artworld
From December 4 through 7, 2008, Miami Beach, Florida, USA, will be home to the 7th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the celebrated international art show. More than 240 leading galleries from the USA, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia will be taking part. MCASD Receives $225,000 Getty Foundation Grant
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) announced that the Getty Foundation has awarded the Museum a $225,000 grant to support research and planning for the forthcoming exhibition "Phenomenal: California Light and Space". The project is one of 15 Getty Foundation grants announced October 29, totaling nearly $2.8 million. Previous grants to the project bring the Getty’s investment to $5.5 million, thus launching the largest collaborative project undertaken by museums in the region. This series of concurrent exhibitions throughout Southern California is called Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980.

Carnegie Museum of Art announces the redesign of the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Galleries, which will open in November 2009. The renovated galleries will focus on the museum’s decorative arts and design collections, illustrating strengths from the 1740s to the present. Included among more than 550 objects on display will be the museum’s important collection of early Western Pennsylvania furniture, as well as its first permanent installation of the American painted and gilded parlor suite from PicNic, the distinguished Greek revival mansion built in Pittsburgh in the 1830s for William Croghan and his daughter, Mary Schenley.
