IMA Launches Groundbreaking Mellon Curators-at-Large Program
The Indianapolis Museum of Art announced it has received a $1.025 million grant by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to fund a three-year pilot program that will allow leading scholars to conduct groundbreaking research on the IMA’s collections while piloting a global model for future scholarly appointments at museums. The 14th annual Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair at the Park Avenue Armory enjoyed steady crowds and sales, from the well-attended vernissage on April 13 straight through its four-day run, which ended on Sunday, April 17. IMA Receives A $1.5M Gift To Endow Senior Conservation Scientist Position
A $1.5 million gift from the estate of Otto N. “Nick” Frenzel III has fulfilled a challenge grant to endow the Indianapolis Museum of Art senior conservation scientist position for the Museum’s Conservation Science Laboratory. The position, held by Dr. Gregory Dale Smith, was established through a $1.75 million Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant in 2008 which required a match of $1.5 million within three years. The $1.5 million match is part of a $1.8 million gift from Mr. Frenzel’s estate.(view more...)
