Robert L. Sain, an arts leader who repositioned Montalvo from a local arts center and commercially oriented music venue to a regionally based, mission driven, philanthropic, contemporary arts center, has announced that he is stepping down from his role as Executive Director as of Sept. 30, 2008.

AT&T announced a $5 million gift to the Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation to help fund a "world class" permanent home to major performing arts organizations of San Antonio. ICC At The ROM Showcases 2008 Sobey Art Award Finalists
The Institute for Contemporary Culture (ICC) at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) hosts the Exhibition of the 2008 Sobey Art Award presented by Scotiabank, from August 27 to October 13, 2008 on Level 3 of the Museum’s Centre Block. This exhibition features over 50 contemporary artworks, including paintings, sculptures, performance art, video installations and photography, by the Award’s finalists, five of Canada’s most up-and-coming young artists. The winner, selected by the Sobey Art Award’s curatorial panel, will be announced at a gala held at the ROM on October 1, 2008.

Design Within Reach is launching a multi-faceted effort to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Throughout the fall, DWR will hold fundraising events; sponsor teams in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walks; and auction off exclusive furniture pieces donated by Knoll, Herman Miller, Emeco, Fritz Hansen and Spinneybeck. The proceeds from DWR's efforts will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure -- the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.
