June 18 - to end September 2010 Opening up the Polo Club Saint-Tropez’s outdoor spaces to contemporary art, by creating "Les Sentiers de la Sculpture" (The Sculpture Trail) is the challenge we have taken on for this 2010 season …… Here’s a guided tour… Corinne Schuler is a great lover of contemporary art. She has always had the desire to open up her incomparable grounds to offer visitors to the peninsula a cultural experience of the highest artistic quality. The Haras de Gassin which extends itself over nearly 60 acres is a unique preserve, the perfect foil for setting up a contemporary art walk. The Polo Club’s director, Jean Dominique Gontrand and Valérie Penven, the exhibition manager, are entrusted with turning this magnificent terrain into a backdrop for a permanent exhibition of figurative and non-figurative works of art from June to September 2010. The main idea has been to create a sequence of sculptures along a natural path that takes into account the dimensions of the spaces and the proportions of the works of art. The trail, which has been thoroughly researched and develops from the rather small to the monumental to reflect man’s relationship with his environment…. Every piece is in a place perfectly suited to its spirit so it can transmit its individual poetry to the visitor, the surprise or the sensitivity of contemporary sculpture. Bernard Reyboz, Marion Burkle, Tassou, Jacky Coville, Philippe Pastor, Alain Boullet, Nicholas Lavarenne, Bruno Lucchi, Florence Jacquesson and Célia Gouveiac are in the cast for this first exhibition. These different artists show a great diversity in their approach to material, form and their work. But all of them interpret their vision of the universe in their personal style that leaves a mark on our sense of the aesthetic in art and nature. Their view enriches the subject and allows each one of us to observe their different intent and to reflect on the place of man in his natural and social environment. Opening up these natural spaces to art is the challenge we at the Polo Club Saint-Tropez have enthusiastically taken up this season in 2010. Happenings are also planned for this first season and surprising guests will be attending the exhibition. Do not miss this event! |
